Spot on: Tim Sutton

American indie's subtle storyteller

With a razor-sharp sense of style and a unique ear for the silent screams of American youth, Tim Sutton has - with just three features - established himself as one of the most interesting voices of the American independent scene today. He follows his characters like a fly on the wall, and the gentle observation challenges the audience's perception of the films as works of fiction. Sutton's films present themselves as beautiful collages of everyday moments, they have no obvious or self-assertive plots, and his lyrical framing of reality almost approaches a documentary form. The feeling of authenticity and the visual narrative style are common to all of the director's films. Tim Sutton will visit this year's festival to present the first screening of each film.
